I am a HUGE fan of this product, especially for families whose little ones can’t have dairy. The calcium in this tuna is insanely good and a really effective means of ensuring your babe is getting enough - half a tin contains more calcium than a 1 year old requires 👏🏻
Calcium is added through ground down tuna bones - so is a naturally occurring source of calcium, and you don’t even know it’s in there!!
It is also a brilliant way to offer fish to your little one if you’re not a big fish eating family.
I get lots of questions about the mercury level in tuna, but it’s not something to be abundantly concerned about - the tuna used in Australia for tinned purposes is typically of the smaller variety. However, I wouldn’t recommend offering tuna more than 2-3 times per week, to ensure your little one is eating enough variety. Aim to offer the tuna in spring water to limit added ingredients and salt.
** tuna is an allergen and falls under the fish category, so be mindful on the first few exposures
