This one is a little different - it’s like a two in one. I get so many questions around kids weetbix vs normal weetbix, so thought I would create a review/comparison.

Overall, these products are brilliant (don’t let anyone tell you weetbix aren’t ok for your little one) and neither is better than the other. The kids weetbix do have a little less salt, which can be great, but they are also 25% more expensive than the standard weetbix.

What I do encourage families to do when offering cereals is to try to add some bits to boost up the nutritional quality (it’s also ok not to do this!). Things like adding some full fat Greek yoghurt or milk, chia seeds, ground nuts, fruit, nut butters, flaxseed, all all super easy ways to add a bit more sustenance to cereals. Check out the building a balanced breakfast resource for more information.

If we refer back to the article on how to read a nutrition label, we can make the following analysis:

Ingredients - great ingredients with minimal added “stuff”

Fat - 1.3 g (1.8 g kids) per 100g —> to be expected from a cereal

Sugar - 3 g (2.9 g kids) per 100g —> great

Sodium - 270 mg (10mg kids) per 100g —> moderate (low kids)
