orange + almond bliss balls

8 x medjool dates (or normal dates, soaked)

1 tbs almond butter

1 cup almond meal

Rind of one orange

Dash of water

Desiccated coconut (for rolling)

SERVING SIZE (12 small balls) | Suitable from 12mo

You can either roll these into balls or logs. They are quite a gooey texture, hence why I recommend them as a toddler snack. Having said that, feel free to use your own judgement when making them, as to whether you feel your little one will cope well. As with anything new, ensure you are watching them closely the first few times they are eaten.

NOTE: These are a snack that is higher in sugar due to the dates. It is natural sugar and dates have other added benefits such as fibre, they are rich in energy (perfect for those little ones struggling with weight gain) and contain lots of vitamins and minerals. So, as with any food, have these be a snack option that is rotated with a range of other snacks.

Remove pips from dates, and cut in half

Add to food processor and blitz under a paste is formed – you may need to add a dash of water

Add almond butter and blitz until combined

Add almond flour and orange rind, blitzing until (aiming for a soft texture)

Roll into balls and coat in desiccated coconut

Note: If using normal dates, soak in warm water for 15 minutes, until soft
